Facing Example – Flush Drywall
Drywall may be installed on top of the fiber board (NOTE:do not install drywall or other combustible over
the 2" (51mm) strip above the tile stop. It is also installed below the tile stop. Because the fiber board is
½" (12mm) thick, we recommend using two layers of drywall below the fireplace to make the facing flush.
See the illustration below for further details.
NOTE: If using 5/8" (15mm) drywall, use the included spacer to position the fiber board flush with the
drywall (see item "I" in the illustration below).
NOTE: You may wish to setback the framing ½ (12mm) or 5/8" (15mm) to allow the drywall to overlap the
fiberboard. See "Framing Setback" page 40 for details.
