WEMPE digital main clock 20097 Design and function 1.2 Mode of operation The main clock 20097 controls and operates analogue (optionally as well digital) secondary clocks by impulses. A highly precise quartz-controlled oscillator with an average accuracy of ± 0,05 s/24 h provides the control pulse for the main clock’s UTC.

  • Page 28: Use Of Extension Cards

An extension card for digital clocks needs to be installed to operate digital secondary clocks. Both times (UTC and LT) are always transmitted via the BCD code. The standard display of digital WEMPE secondary clocks is LT. The display can be changed from LT to UTC manually by means of an internal jumper.

  • Page 32: Setting Of Synchronisation Rate

WEMPE digital main clock 20097 Operation 1.1.4 Setting of synchronisation rate The use of GPS receivers without PPS impulse involves a risk in view of the correct synchronisation of the main clock. All data frames that correspond to the usual layout are regarded as valid. For GPS receivers with an up-date rate of more than 1 second, this means for example that the receiver transmits the same time for up to 5 seconds and then makes a 5-seconds leap forwards.
