Solving Problems
You can diagnose and solve most problems by checking the messages on the LCD
screen and trying the recommended solutions.
You can also check "Problems and Solutions" on page 48 for basic troubleshooting
suggestions, or double-click the User's Guide icon on your computer desktop for
more detailed help.

Solving Problems
Cause
Empty ink cartridge.
The ink cartridge is not
installed or not installed
correctly.
No paper is loaded in the
sheet feeder.
Paper is jammed.
The index sheet was not
recognized because it is
not positioned correctly.
Solution
Change the empty ink cartridges; see
page 41.
Install the ink cartridge correctly; see
page 41.
Load paper in the sheet feeder.
Then press x Start to continue or
y Stop/Clear Settings to cancel.
See page 48 for instructions on clearing
the paper jam.
Position the index sheet correctly on the
document table, aligning the top of it
with the left edge of the glass. Then
press x Start to continue or y Stop/
Clear Settings to cancel.
