NOTE
• When using ordinary plain paper 60 to 105 g/m
or rough paper choose Thick Paper or Thicker Paper. For bond paper, choose Bond Paper.
• When you are using envelopes, choose Envelopes. If the toner is not fixed to the envelope correctly when
Envelopes has been selected, choose Env. Thick. If the envelope is crumpled when Envelopes has
been selected, choose Env. Thin. For more information, see Paper capacity of the paper trays on page 3.

Print Quality

Choose one of the following print quality settings.
 Normal (600 x 600 dpi)
600×600 dpi. Recommended for ordinary printing. Good print quality with reasonable print speeds.
Fine (2400 dpi class)

2400 dpi class. The finest print mode. Use this mode to print precise images such as photographs. Since
the print data is much larger than in Normal mode, processing time / data transfer time and print time will
be longer.
NOTE
The print speed will change depending on the print quality setting you choose. Higher print quality takes
longer to print, while lower print quality takes less time to print.
Colour / Mono
Choose the appropriate Colour/Mono setting:
 Auto
The machine checks the content of your documents for colour. If colour is detected, it prints in colour. If
no colour content is detected, it prints in monochrome. The total print speed may become slower.
 Colour
When your document contains colour and you want to print it in colour, select this mode.
 Mono
Select this mode if your document has only black and greyscale text and/or objects. If your document
contains colour, selecting Mono mode prints your document in 256 levels of grey.
NOTE
• Sometimes a document can contain colour information even if it appears to be monochrome (for example,
grey areas can actually be made from a combination of colours).
• If either the Cyan, Magenta or Yellow toner reaches the end of its life while printing a colour document, the
print job cannot be completed. You can start the print job again in Mono mode, as long as black toner is
available.
