Chapter 3 Setup
1.

Turning on the Server

Turn on the server by using the following procedure.
1. Disconnect Flash FDD if applicable.
2. Turn on the peripheral devices that connect to the display monitor and the server.
3. Press the POWER switch at the front of the server.
The POWER LED is turned on green and after a while,
the NEC logo appears on the display. While the NEC
logo is being displayed, the self-diagnostic program
(POST) runs and diagnoses the hardware. For details,
refer to Chapter 3 (1.1 POST).

• When the power cord is connected, the POWER LED lights amber during

initialization of the system. You must power on the server after making
sure that the amber POWER LED is unlit.
• Wait for approximately 10 seconds before turning on the server again after
the power has been turned off.
Note
If the power cord is connected to power control system such as an Uninterruptible
Power Supply (UPS), make sure that the power control system is turned on.
