** Where a fresh air intake is needed, we suggest you add a minimum of 4'' to the width
of the minimum masonry opening.
Note 1: From door opening. The depth of hearth extension in front of the insert is
included in the calculation of the floor protector's dimensions. The masonry hearth should
be at least 4 inches (102 mm) higher than the combustible floor in front of it. If the hearth
elevation is lower than 4 inches, the non-combustible floor protector in front of the insert
should have an R value equal or greater than 2.00 and shall extend 29 inches (737 mm) in
front of the unit.
