12.14 Auto Plotter Menu Description

This paragraph covers items on page 2 of the ARP menu not previously discussed.
Track Test: Tests tracking performance of the auto plotter. For details see paragraph 12.13.
Land Discrimination: Sets the size of the echo to be recognized as a landmass. The sizes are 0,
more than 600 m; 1, more than 800 m; 2, more than 1200 m; 3, more than 1600 m, and 4, no
limitation.
Vector Start: Selects when to start reestablishment of vectors after the range is changed; 1
minute or 20 scans of radar antenna.
Reference Target Vector: In relative motion reference targets may be affixed with vectors.
Target Based Speed: This mode is used when the ship's SDME (log) is not operating properly
or the vessel has no device which detects ship's leeward movement (Doppler sonar 2-axis speed
log, etc.) and leeward movement is not disregarded.
If you select target based speed, the radar calculates own ship's speed relative to fixed reference
targets. The number of targets may be 1, 2 or 3. They appear as tracked targets, each shown in
a small circle, but without a vector. When a plural of reference targets are selected, the mean
value is used for stabilization and speed. This function is only available with the GP/GD-380/680.
To use target based speed:
Note: Do not mark an acquired target as a target based speed target. It will become a lost target.
