Setting Capture
Properties
The Capture Properties window allows
you explicit control over video and
audio parameters.
From the Capture Video window,
select Advanced Settings, then
Capture Properties.
Format:
Selecting DVD means Audigy 2 ZS
Video Editor will capture in DVD-
compliant MPEG2.
TV System:
Set for the type of TV system you use.
Resolution:
Use 720x480 for NTSC or 720x576 for PAL. 704x480 [576] can be used to create
MPEG files for digital television or other applications. Use 352x480 [576] for
bitrates below 4 Mbps. See "Digital Video and Audio Resolutions and Bitrates" on
page A-9.
Bitrate Mode:
Use VBR to control space while allowing extra bandwidth for complex or motion
scenes.
Video Bitrate:
With VBR this is the average bitrate; for CBR this is the actual bitrate. For
maximum reproduction of visual quality, set to 7 – 9.5 Mbps; for best use of space,
set to 2.5 – 4 Mbps.
Video Peak rate:
(VBR only) the maximum video bitrate, used by the MPEG encoder for scenes with
lots of movement or complex visual elements. Set to 10-20% greater than Video
Bitrate for good results.
