Place the console in a position that will minimize traffic across the cable walkovers. Depending on the
placement of the console, you may need to cut a walkover to make it fit between the operator console and
the print tower.

Positioning the Collator and Desktop

The collator is placed at one end of the operator console, with the PES control unit at the other end and
enough space between them for the operator to sit and work at the InfoPrint Color 100 operator monitor
and keyboard. The PES control unit cables connecting to the print tower are slightly shorter than the
cables running from the collator to the print tower, so the PES control unit must be placed closest to the
tower. The length of the collator cables, however, determines final placement of the operator console.
The desktop used with the collator and the PES control unit is approximately 180 cm (71 in.) wide; the
control unit and collator are each approximately 51 cm (20 in.) wide. Using the control unit and collator as
the "legs" of the table allows approximately 73 cm (31 in.) between them for the operator. The collator can
be placed either to the right or the left of the PES control unit, provided the PES is closest to the print
tower. See Figure 6 on page 15 for an illustration of the control unit and collator. The collator connects to
the control unit with cables and a power cord. The printer fixed tower provides power for the collator
through the PES control unit.

Positioning the RIP Controller and Monitor

The RIP controller can be placed on the floor near the PES control unit, or on the desktop. If placed on
the desktop, it must be positioned near the PES control unit. The monitor is placed on the desktop. The
power cord and video cable for the monitor are connected to the PES control unit.

Positioning the Cooling Unit

You may install the cooling unit on either side of the print tower. See Figure 9 on page 18. If possible,
install the cooling unit in another room. This must be a non-condensing room with a minimum temperature
of 10°C (50°F) and a maximum temperature of 35°C (95°F). Position the cooling unit level with or higher
than the print tower, a maximum of 3 m (9.84 ft). Do not place it lower than the print tower. The maximum
distance between the tower and the cooling unit is determined by the length of the cooling unit hoses.
When configured to have the cooling hoses exiting from the right side of the tower, the maximum distance
is 10 m (32.8 ft). When configured to have the cooling hoses exiting from the left side of the tower, the
maximum distance is 7.2 m (23.8 ft).
Note: Ensure the warm air exhaust from the cooling unit is directed away from the operator console. The
cooling unit exhausts air from the end opposite the hose connections.
