 Do not pull starter rope if any bystander

bystander.
 Attach engine stop switch lanyard to
clothing or any part of body like arm
before starting engine.
 Be careful not to remove engine stop
switch lanyard from engine accidentally

possibly leading the crew(s) and or
objects on the boat to be thrown for-
ward due to inertial force.

such as ignition coils, spark plug cables
or spark plug caps when starting engine
or while engine is in operation. Touching

4. Warming up the engine

Warm the engine at low engine speeds for
about three minutes. This allows the lubri-
cating oil to circulate to all parts of the
ENOF00045-0
engine. Operating the engine without
warm up shortens the engine's life.
Be sure to check that cooling water is
coming out of the cooling water check
port during warm up.
ENOW00035-0
If the engine is operated without water dis-
charging from the check port, the engine
may over heat.
