Resetting the Switch
If you believe that the switch is not operating correctly, you can reset the
switch to test its circuitry and operating code.
To reset a switch, choose one of the following options:
■
■
Power cycling the switch and the software reset and the reload option cause
the switch to perform a power-on self-test, which almost always will resolve
any temporary operational problem. Neither of these reset procedures causes
any changes to the switch configuration.
Testing Twisted-Pair Cabling
If you think the cable should work but still isn't working, it may not be
compatible with the IEEE 802.3 Type 10Base-T, 100Base-T, or 1000Base-T
standards, as appropriate for the switch port type that the cable is connected
to. The twisted-pair cables attached to a ProCurve Switch 8100fl must be
compatible with these standards. To verify your cable is compatible with these
standards, use a qualified cable testing device.

Unplug and plug in the power cable (power cycling).
Enter the reload command from the command-line interface.
