PROPELLER REMOVAL

AWARNING
Beforeattempting to remove or install pro-
peller, remove spark plug leads from spark
plugs t o prevent engine from starting
Remove top c o w l (see COWL RE-
MOVAL and INSTALLATION) and d ~ s c o n -
Place wood block between propeller
blade and anti-ventilat~on plate to prevent
rotation.
Turn propeller shaft nut counterclock
wise to rerriove nut.
Slide tab washer, propeller and splined
thrust hub off propeller shaft.

Some damaged propellers can be repalred

PROPELLER INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT: Periodically check propeller
nut for tightness during boating season.
Apply a I beral coat of one of thefollow-

Reconnect ssark pluq leads and install top
IMPORTANT: After first use, bend tab
straight, retighten propeller nut [mininwrn
of 55 Ib. ft. (14.6 N.m)] and again bend tab
on tab washer to secure nut.
Operation with a loose propeller could
cause damage to the thrust hub and gear
housing during acceleration, deceleration
or when shrfiiing gears.
