Activating an Assistance button alert
With your handset switched on and the antenna deployed,
flip open the latch of the Assistance button at the top of
the handset and press the button revealed. Alternatively,
from the main menu, select Location services >
Assistance button > Configure assistance button >
Send assistance alert. The on-screen text informs you
that the alert will be sent in 15 seconds and that you can
select Alert now to send it immediately. You can cancel
the alert during this time, by pressing Cancel. Respond
as necessary. If alert messages have been configured,
they are then sent to the recipient(s). If alert call has been
configured, then the call is established. During the call, the
screen displays the latitude and longitude of your current
location.
Assistance button security
You can lock the Assistance button feature to prevent
unauthorised use. If the lock is on, you must enter the
admin code before the feature's settings can be changed.
See Setting up the admin code on page 53 for more
information. The lock default setting is Off.
To switch on or off the Assistance button lock, select
Menu > Settings > Security and select Assistance
button lock from the list. Then select On or Off, enter the
admin code and press OK.
