Installing The Chassis Intrusion Switch

CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only
perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as
directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is
not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that came with the product.
1.
Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the
electrical outlet and peripherals.
2.
Open the system.
3.
Insert the chassis intrusion switch into the chassis intrusion switch slot and slide it in to secure it.
4.
Wind the chassis intrusion switch cable around the cable-routing hook.
5.
Connect the chassis intrusion switch cable to the system board.
6.
Close the system.

Hard Drives

Your system supports the following configurations:
Dell DL1000 2 TB (no VM): 2x 3TB SATA
Dell DL1000 3 TB (no VM): 2x 4TB SATA
Dell DL1000 3 TB (2 VM): 2x 4TB SATA
NOTE: The capacities for the above configurations represent the usable storage space after creating
the operating system partition.
Your system supports two Enterprise Class 3.5 inch SATA hard drives in a RAID 1 configuration.

Removing A 3.5 Inch Hard-Drive Cage

NOTE: Your system supports two 3.5-inch hard-drive cages, HDD0 and HDD1. The HDD0 and
HDD1 cages cannot be used interchangeably. For more information, see
NOTE: The procedure for removing a 3.5 inch HDD0 and HDD1 cage is identical.

If installed, remove the front bezel.
2.
Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet
and from the peripherals.
3.
Open the system.
