Summary of Board functions

Name
This Board is a micro program control circuit that forms the nucleus of the PMC
RM5231A external 32 bit RISC processor, and performs control of the control circuit of
each PKG by software. As the primary functions, it possesses reading circuit, record-
MFBS Board ing controls, structural controls, operating controls, reading controls, CCD driver cir-
cuit, CCD output image process circuit, binary image process circuit, motor controls
circuit, different types of sensor I/F circuits, PC printer function (USB), network func-
tion (LAN), Compact Flash I/F, and expansion memory I/F.
This Board performs the relay between the MFBS board and the book scanner unit cir-
cuit. The relay interfaces include the operation panel (OPE) I/F, BS sensors I/F, CCD I/
BCRS Board F, S motor I/F, and Xe lamp I/F.
Also, it provides from the BCRS board to each Board the power supply provided to the
Scanner unit.
This Board is equipped with a V.34 FAX modem to realize FAX communication. This
FAX Board PKG possesses a line controller to detect line signals such as line connection and
ringer, as well as a telephone function I/F that realizes FAX/TEL automatic switching.
This Board mounts non-volatile memory (32MB) for storing S/W onboard, and is used
as a program ROM. This PKG also possesses BOOTROM, clock IC circuit, SRAM cir-

cuit for storing different types of registration information, battery back-up circuit (lithium
battery) for SRAM circuit, and battery backup circuit (Ni-MH battery) for file memory.
