Getting started
Before you send and receive messages, you will need to perform
some brief setup tasks on the handheld: install a new AA battery
(for the pager-sized handheld) or charge the internal battery (for the
palm-sized handheld), turn on the radio, and ensure that the
handheld is registered with the wireless network. You need to set
up your computer by installing the desktop software and
connecting the handheld to your PC. Once setup is complete on
both the handheld and PC, you can send and read a test message,
and configure your handheld's options.
Before you begin
You should familiarize yourself with some of the handheld's basic
components before sending and receiving email messages.
The QWERTY keyboard provides access to all of the regular
alphabetic characters; numeric characters, a symbols library,
punctuation, and special characters can all be generated using the
orange
key in combination with the other keys. For easy typing,
ALT
hold the handheld in both hands and use your thumbs.
Roll and click the handheld's trackwheel (located in the top right
corner of the handheld) for navigation and selection.
When you turn on your handheld, the Home screen appears. This
screen is your starting point for using the handheld's functions. It
displays the date and time, the current signal strength, the battery
level of the handheld, and the function icons. The Home screen also
