Sharpness

This mode enables you to make copies of the original image with a sharper or a
softer contrast. If you want to copy an original containing text and lines clearly,
increase the sharpness level. If you want to copy an original containing halftones,
such as a picture, decrease the sharpness level.

If you make copies of an original image containing halftones, such as a printed

photograph, using the Photo mode, moiré may occur. You can soften this moiré effect by
adjusting the sharpness level lower.

If you make copies of an original image containing small or unclear letters, such as a blue
print or an original written in pencil, set the sharpness level high. This will enhance the
edges of the image in order to make a clear copy.
