Glossary
magazine A container that holds cartridges in the
cells provided and is inserted into the CAP.
magnetic tape A tape with a magnetizable layer
on which data can be stored. Synonymous with tape.
Main menu The top-level menu on the operator
panel display.
manual mode A relationship between a library
and all attached clients. Tape libraries operating in
manual mode have been placed offline to all client
CPUs and require human assistance to perform
cartridge operations.
Mb See megabit.
MB See megabyte.
Mb/s Megabits per second.

media type A type of removable media. For
example, a DLT IV media type indicates that the
