INTRODUCTION Purpose of your Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) This Uninterruptible Power System is designed to provide a continuous supply of usable 220 Volt AC as power to computer and other electronic equipments during irregularities or failures of commercial AC power. The UPS protects against AC power line irregularities such as blackouts, sags, spikes and electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. -

Design Concept The figure below shows the block diagram of the UPS. BYPASS INPUT RECTIFIER INVERTER STATIC SW OUTPUT TO CRITICAL LOAD CHARGER # - This shorting link is removed when connected with separate bypass source. BATTERIES The input to the UPS is 230 V, single phase supply. This is converted into DC power by the rectifier circuit for the inverter. -

INSTALLATION WARNING : IMPROPER INSTALLATION WILL NULLIFY WARRANTY Unpacking and Inspection When unpacking the UPS shipping carton you will find the following contents and enclosed in a waterproof bag. Remove the unit from its shipping carton and examine it for damage or moisture. - Page 12 IMPORTANT: Select right power wire according recommended wire selection table 1 (Page 14) and connection diagram as per Figures 1 & 2 (Page 10 & 11). 5. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS DETAILED PROCEDURE : Before proceeding with the operating instructions ensure that your UPS has been installed correctly. The UPS equipment is provided with easy to use power cable snap on connectors with 1/3 meter cable length. This is to facilitate quick and easy installation and uninstallation at any point of time. -

The UPS audible alarm should sound intermittently when the UPS is operating from the battery source. Connect a normal load to the UPS. Turn on the power switch. Disconnect the input power. Again the audible alarm should sound intermittently. When the UPS is under the back-up mode, a battery capacity sensitive beeping indicates the battery power status. -

START UP PROCEDURE - QUICK REFERENCE STARTING THE UPS ON MAINS Ensure that the input voltage is 230V, 50Hz, single phase. All the wiring connections should be made as under :- SHORTING LINKS INPUT BYP. OUTPUT BATTERY Initially, connect only the input line, neutral and earth connection. Switch ON the input isolator on the rear panel, the breaker on the left side as seen from the back of the unit. - Page 20 STARTING THE UPS ON BATTERY (BLACK START) As per the above connection diagram, connect only the battery to the UPS (Ensure that the batteries are in fully charged condition showing DC voltage greater than 205 VDC for the entire bank). TESTING THE UPS The battery charger board is designed to supply a maximum of 7.5 A charging current. Depending on the externally connected batteries, the appropriate setting should be done before connecting the batteries. The battery manufacturer recommends a charging current which is 10% of the AH capacity rating. -

OPERATION Powering UP the UPS Be sure that the UPS is connected to an acceptable commercial AC power source. Please refer to the ‘Connecting the UPS to Commercial AC’ guidelines in the “INSTALLATION” section of this manual. To power up the UPS turn on the Circuit breaker and the battery breaker at the rear panel. -

8. MAINTENANCE Maintenance Procedure The unit is designed for easy maintenance. Very little customer maintenance is required. The following will help to ensure trouble-free operation for several years :- Vacuum the dust from the ventilation intake. Wipe the cover with a damp cloth. Periodically cut the input AC power to test the condition of batteries CAUTION:... - Page 24 If everything appears normal, check for any loose connection of wires. Locate a fuse mounted on a busbar between the DC capacitors and the IGBTs. Check for the healthiness of this fuse. If it is faulty, replace the same and attempt to restart the UPS.
