A2
and verify all other DTCs are repaired.
Monitor the PID 4WDCLST.
Verify the vehicle is in A4WD mode.
Position the rear wheels on a loose or slippery surface. Accelerate briefly to get the rear wheels to break traction.
Does the A4WD lamp begin to flash and the PID 4WDCLST indicate OFF?
Yes
GO to A25.
No
CHECK transfer case assembly C201 for intermittent short.
Place the mode switch in the A4WD position.
Monitor the PID 4WDCLST.
Does the PID 4WDCLST indicate OFFO-G?
Yes
GO to A26.
No
If the PID 4WDCLST indicates ON---, REPLACE the GEM; REFER to
the system for normal operation.
Measure the voltage between A4WD clutch relay C293-D, circuit 976 (O), and ground.
