6. Press the RECORD FUNCTION "2" sw itch. The RE C 2 indicator will
start blinking in the meter w indow , and meter 2 will show the
level from your instrument. Adjust the channel fader and the
MASTER 1/L-2/R fader for the proper recording level. Set the
balanc e betw een the new signal and the recorded one w ith the
T A PE 2 MIX control.
For both musical and technical reasons, w hen punching in or out of a
track, you must selec t points that are "in the points clear", i.e., in the
pauses bet w een phrases or notes. It sounds unnatural and m ak es the
insert noticeable if you record a new note before the old one has
ended, or are holding a note as you punc h in or out. Making inserts
w ell requires some practice. Bec ause of the spacing betw een the
erase and record heads, you need to anticipate your in/out points by a
fraction of a second for extremely tight cues. Use the follow ing
proc edures w ith the RH SL sw itch on.
1. Chec k to see that the REC 2 indicator is blinking, show ing trac k 2
is in Re c Ready mode. Loc at e the tape a little behind the ex pec ted
punch-in point. Then, press PL A Y .
2. When you reach JUST B EFORE the error, press RECORD. The
REC 2 indicator that w as blinking will turn on solid and track 2
enters Rec ord mode. The tape signal on track 2 will be muted in
monitor mix.
3. To punch-out of record, press PL A Y . The REC 2 indicator that w as
on solid will again blink, indicating that recording is over. You will
hear the output of trac k 2 again in monitor mix.
4. To stop the tape, press ST OP.
