disabled, you cannot enter a number with the above method. A check mark ( )
indicates enabled while underline (_) indicates disabled. Default setting is
enabled.
• USB Emulation: enables or disables the USB Emulation function. Once enabled,
you can use USB keyboard or floppy disk drive in MS-DOS mode.
• POST beep: enables or disables the beep sound when starting the Joybook.

Advanced Menu

The Advanced menu contains the I/O (Input/Output) configuration settings of
the system.
Incorrect settings in this menu may cause your system to malfunction. You are
advised to keep the default
• Geyserville Support: enables or disables the Geyserville feature of the CPU. The
Geyserville feature helps conserve battery life by decreasing the CPU's running
speed under certain conditions while still maintaining a high performance. If
this item is enabled, the CPU will automatically change its speed whenever nec-
essary based on the "Power Scheme" setting in Windows' Control Panel. If this
item is disabled, the CPU will always run in the lowest speed.
• Shared Video Memory: sets the shared memory size of the video controller.
This item is for Legacy VGA and SVGA mode only. When under Windows mode, the
shared video memory is allocated directly by the VGA driver based on the size of
your system memory.

Security Menu

The Security menu contains the security settings, which safeguard your system
against unauthorized use.
• Set Password: allows you to set the password for your system. When typing the
password, first make sure that Num Lock is off, then type your password in the
entry fields and press Enter. Confirm your password by typing it again and
pressing Enter. If the E E nable Password to Power-on sub-item is enabled, the set
password is always required to boot the computer.
• Hard Disk Boot Sector: sets if a warning message will appear when the hard disk
boot sector (partition table) has been changed. A checkmark ( ) indicates
enabled, while an underline (_) indicates disabled. The default setting is dis-
abled.
Set this item to disabled before installing an operating system, running Fdisk or
Format program. Otherwise, the intended action will fail.

Boot Menu

The Boot menu sets the sequence of the devices to be searched for the operating
system.
Boot Sequence: sets the first, second, third, and fourth booting device. The system
will try to boot from the first device but if it is not available, will try the next boot
device.
To select a boot device manually, press the F9 key when the BenQ logo appears on
the screen during Joybook startup. The boot menu will appear. Use the up and
down arrow keys ( , ) to select a boot device and then press the Enter key to con-
firm.
If you set all booting options to the same device, then the computer will try to boot
from that device only.

Exit Menu

The Exit menu displays ways of exiting BIOS Setup. After finished with your set-
tings, you must save and exit so that the new settings can take effect.
• Save Changes and Exit: saves the changes you have made and exits BIOS Setup.
After finished with your settings, you must save and exit so that the new settings
can take effect.
• Discard Changes and Exit: exits BIOS Setup without saving the changes you have
made.
• Get Default Values: loads factory default values for all the items.
• Load Previous Values: loads previously set values before running BIOS Setup.
