Introduction of the operation

The basic menu containing the former settings will be displayed,
e.g.:

be ready to operate with the settings present at the
time of turn-off.

How to return to the factory settings:
At turn-on keep the ESC button depressed for several seconds,
this will erase all stored functions and restore the factory settings.
Reset to the factory settings will also erase any
stored arbitrary functions and all stored keyboard
settings!

Structure of the menus

Operation of the HM 8131-2 will be predominantly via the menus.
The parameters are either set using the keyboard or the
incremental control knob. Most menus are self-explanatory.
Basic menu

The characters shown indicate:
Fr
free-running with the frequency selected
Tr
trigger mode selected with frequency selected
Gt
gate mode selected with frequency selected
Sin
sine
Tri
triangle
Sqr
square wave
+Rmp positive ramp
–Rmp negative ramp
Spc
Special: arbitrary signal or noise selected
In the basic menu the selected frequency will be displayed. Also,
in this menu, the basic functions Sin, Tri, Sqr are selected. An
arrow
selects the functions pos. sawtooth, neg. sawtooth,
spectrum. If any of the menus +rmp, –rmp, Spc was already
selected return to the basic menu is possible by using the
backwards arrow
in order to select Sin, Tri, Sqr. The desired
functions are available via the menu pushbuttons
The function selected (Sin, Tri, Sqr, +rmp, –rmp) will be marked
with a triangle. Upon selection of the function Spc another menu
will be entered in which arbitrary functions and noise can be
chosen.
