3.5.4 EOI (End or Identify)
The EOI line on the bus is usually set low by a device during
the last byte of its data transfer sequence. In this way, the last
byte is properly identified allowing variable length data words
to be transmitted. The Model 706 normally sends EOI during
the last byte of its data string or status word. The EOI
response of the instrument may be set with one of the follow-
ing commands:
1. KO-Send EOI during last byte.
2. Kl-Send no EOI.
NOTE
Upon power up the KO mode is enabled.

Example-The
EOI response is sup-
pressed with the following HP-85 statement sequence:
REMOTE 718; (END LINE)
OUTPUT 718; "KlX"
(END LINE)
3.5.5 Bus Response Mode (SRQ)
The bus response mode determines whether or not the Model
706 requests service from the controller through the SRQ
line. When the appropriate mode is selected, the instrument
generates an SRQ under the data or error conditions describ-
ed as follows:
1. If the instrument receives an illegal device-dependent com-
mand (IDDCI or illegal device-dependent command option
(IDDCO), or if the instrument is not in the remote mode
when programmed.
2. If the end of the buffer is encountered when running a pro-
gram.
3. At the end of interval time.
4. Execution of timer alarm.
5. End of settle time.
6. Broken serial loop.
Upon power up or after a DCL or SDC, SRQ is disabled, the
bus response may be programmed as follows:
1. MO-No SRQ
2. Ml-M63-Send
SRQ.
Refer to Table 3-9 for conditions that generate a SRQ.
NOTE
Upon power up, the MO mode is selected. The
SRQ byte is cleared on a read of the serial poll
byte.
