11.7. R eplacing t he c ompressor
The c ompressor u sed i n t he d ehumidifier i s d urable a nd s hould l ast f or m any y ears
without f ailure o r n eed f or s ervice. I n t he u nlikely e vent o f c ompressor f ailure, t he
compressor c an b e r eplaced b y c ompetent r efrigeration t echnician.
Failure o f t he c ompressor c an b e c onfirmed b y t he f ollowing p rocedure:
1. If t he c ompressor d oes n ot r un, c heck t hat p ower i s r eaching t he c ompressor w ith a
volt m eter.
2. If p ower i s r eaching t he c ompressor, c heck t hat t he t hermal o verload s witch i s
functioning p roperly. R eset a s n ecessary a nd c heck f or n ormal o peration.
3. Next s tep i s t o c heck t he s tart c apacitor.
4. If a ll o f t hese c hecks d o n ot i dentify f aulty c omponents, t he c ompressor w ill n eed t o b e

11.8. Replacing t he c apillary t ube
When o ne o r b oth o f t he c apillary e xpansion t ubes i s b locked, y ou w ill s ee t hat o nly h alf
of t he e vaporator c oils i s f reezing. U pon c loser i nspection, y ou m ay n otice t hat i cing
present o n o ne o f t he c apillaries t ubes. F ailure o f t he c apillary t ube c an b e c onfirmed b y
the f ollowing p rocedure ( NOTE—an e xperienced r efrigeration t echnician i s r equired):
1. Take o ff t he c apillary t ubes a nd d rain o ut a ny r efrigerant p resent.
2. Introduce p ressurized a ir i nto t he t ube t o c lean o ut t he c apillary t ube f urther. I f a ir
does n ot p ass t hrough t he c apillary t ubes, o ne o r b oth a re b locked a nd n eed t o b e
replaced.
