10.5. C leaning t he s urface o f t he e vaporator
With t he f ilter r emoved, i nspect t he e vaporator c oils f or b uild-­‐up d ebris ( dust, l int, e tc.). If
debris i s v isible, c leaning i s n eeded a s f ollows:
STEP # 1: W ith t he F ilter r emoved, r emove f our ( 4) s crews f rom t he f ilter c over a nd s et c over
aside. N ow t he e vaporator c oil w ill b e a ccessible.
STEP # 2: U sing a s oft b rush a nd a v acuum c leaner, g ently c lean a way t he accumulated
debris f rom t he e vaporator c oil.
STEP # 3: R e-­‐install t he F ilter C over a nd t he F ilter.

10.6. C heck f or i ndication o f l ow r efrigerant c harge

STEP # 2: R un t he u nit f or 1 5 m inutes a nd b riefly r emove t he c over.
STEP # 3: I nspect t he e vaporator c oil.
Look f or f rost e venly c oating t he e vaporator s urface—this i ndicates a n ormal c harge. A t
temperatures a bove 6 8°F, t he c oil m ay b e c overed w ith d roplets o f w ater r ather t han f rost.
If p artial f rosting o f c ondenser a nd f rosting o f t he t hin c apillary t ubes, i s p resent, t his
