    AC power to protect the customer's load from power failures. The Eaton 9E 20–30 kVA online power protection system is used to prevent loss of valuable electronic information, minimize equipment downtime, and minimize the adverse effect on production equipment due to unexpected power problems.

  • Page 14: Ups Standard Features

    The 9E–30/20 and 9E–30/30 UPS battery systems use internal batteries with External Battery Cabinet (EBC) capability. Up to two Eaton 9E External Battery Cabinets (EBCs) can be added to UPS system. The EBCs are connected in parallel with the internal batteries to provide extended run time.

    External Battery Cabinet Capability EBC capability provides the ability to add Eaton 9E EBCs to the UPS system in addition to the internal batteries. An internal UPS battery breaker and external battery terminal block are added, along with other internal parts allowing the connection of up to two EBCs.

  • Page 16: Reduced Battery String Model

    Reduced Battery String Model The Eaton 9E–20 model is configured with four battery strings instead of six to optimize the run time for 20 kVA with a subsequent reduction in cost and weight. Reduced battery string models are non-EBC capable. If increased battery run time is required in the future, an extended run battery upgrade kit is available to increase the internal battery system to six strings.

    Carefully inspect the outer packaging for evidence of damage during transit. CAUTION Do not install a damaged cabinet. Report any damage to the carrier and contact an Eaton service representative immediately. NOTE For the following step, verify that the forklift or pallet jack is rated to handle the weight of the cabinet (see Table 3-3 for cabinet weight).

    Understanding UPS Operation UPS System Overview The Eaton 9E UPS is a continuous-duty, solid-state, transformerless, three-phase, true online system that provides conditioned and uninterruptible AC power to the UPS system's output and critical load. The basic system consists of a rectifier, battery converter, inverter, monitoring/operation control panel, integrated communication server, and digital signal processor (DSP) logic.

    If the utility AC power is interrupted or is out of specification, the UPS automatically switches to Battery mode to support the critical load without interruption.
