Chapter 6: Removing the Thermal Receipt Mechanism

Disassembling and Reassembling the Receipt Cover

Disassemble the receipt cover by removing the platen (only on non-knife models).
Note: If you are changing the stationary knife blade, you must replace the entire receipt
cover because the stationary knife blade cannot be removed from the receipt cover.
Whenever either the rotating knife blade or the stationary knife blade needs to be replaced,
both knife blades must be replaced.

Removing the Platen (Non-Knife Models)

If the platen is defective on non-knife models, you will want to replace the entire receipt
cover. However, you can replace just the platen. Be careful not to damage the plastic paper
guide as it is glued onto the receipt cover and is not a stock item. If it is damaged or
broken, you will need to replace the entire receipt cover.
Remove the platen by prying on one side of the platen shaft with a flathead screwdriver
from behind until it pops out. The other side will slide easily out.
The platen is not replaceable on knife units. The receipt cover comes complete as a kit and
cannot be disassembled.
