Chapter 1 Introduction Hard drives: Hard drives can be damaged if not handled properly. Do not set heavy objects on top of this unit. Take all necessary precautions to protect this unit from transient voltages and do not place this unit near magnetic devices. Do not move this unit while in operation. Wait at least 30 seconds after removing power before moving the unit or removing the hard drive.

Introduction Passwords Passwords are provided to limit access to the SymDec 16 plus 4, WebServer, and the SymNav software. Alarm Inputs Four 8-pin connectors on the back panel provide the connections for the alarm inputs. Connect the wires to the 4 terminating connectors provided with the SymDec 16 plus 4. See the table below for a description of the pinouts.
The cable connection configuration for the ethernet port depends on your network configuration: • For a SymDec 16 plus 4 that connects directly to a hub, use a straight through connection. • For a SymDec 16 plus 4 that connects directly to a PC, use a cross-over connection.

If an additional device is connected to the monitor’s looping output, set the termination of the additional device as 75-Ohm, and set the termination of the monitor as Hi-Z (High Impedance).
Chapter 2 Connections and Controls Power Connector Plug the power cord into the power cord connector and then into a properly rated wall socket. Once power is applied to the unit, it will begin its power-up procedure. The unit will begin by displaying the software version on Monitor-A, then the unit will begin recording automatically.
