4.3 N ose g ear i nstallation
First i nstall t he s teering h orns t o t he n ose g ear. A t t hat t ime, c heck t he s mall s et
screws w hich h old t he s teering a rm t o t he s trut a nd m ake s ure t hat t hey a re f ully
tightened. T hen u se L octite t o s ecure t he b olts a nd n uts a nd c ounter n uts o n t he
steering h orn. L eave j ust e nough c learance b etween t he b olt h ead a nd t he f irst
nut f or o ne l oop o f t he i ncluded p ull/pull w ire. ( 1.5 – 2 m m).
Trial f it t he n ose g ear t o t he m ounting r ails. T he r ear e dge o f t he a luminum f rame
should b e p laced a t t he r ear e dge o f t he c arbon r einforced w ood m ount. I n o rder
to d rill t he m ounting h oles, y ou m ight h ave t o e xtend t he r ectangular g ear c utout
slightly t owards t he f ront.
Mark t he p osition o f t he h oles, r emove t he g ear u nit a nd d rill t he h oles w ith a
5.5mm d rill b it. I nsert t he T -­‐nuts f rom t he o pposite s ide. Y ou d o n ot n eed t o c ut
the s ides o f t he T -­‐Nuts, e ven t hough t hey m ight e xtend a b it o ver t he w ood e dge.
Pull t he n ut i nto t he w ood o ne b y o ne, u sing a s hort M 4 b olt. T hen f inally m ount
the n ose g ear w ith f our M 4 x 2 0 b olts a nd w ashers.
