30 ENGINE OPERATION

If the engine starts in gear, do not use
it. Contact an authorized dealer.
Note
Start-in-gear protection prevents
engine from starting at other than
neutral shift. In-gear starting of engine
will move the boat immediately,
potentially leading to falling down or
causing passenger(s) to be thrown
overboard.
③ S et the throttle grip to "START"
6 position.
④ P ull the choke knob fully.
CAUTION
Choke Knob
Note
Choke is not necessary when the
engine is warm. Set the throttle grip to
"RE-START" position.
Note
If engine does not start with 4 or 5
times starting operation, push the
knob back and restart.
MF type
Engine is equipped with a compression
release mechanism.
⑤ P ull the starter handle slowly until
you feel engagement, keep pulling
till you feel less resistance. Then pull
it quickly.
Repeat if necessary until started.
⑥ W hen starting the engine, push the
choke knob back.
