SECTION 5
88
Do not try to service the interior of the unit, except
by qualified service personnel, as doing so may
cause an electric shock or functioning error.
Call our company, branch, local office, or authorized
agent for maintenance and inspection of this unit.
Note
Before you go any further, please take a few minutes to fill
out the warranty card and send it in at your earliest
convenience. It is very important that you return the
warranty registration card to the factory directly after your
purchase to insure full warranty benefits.
If you keep your transducer in salt water, you will need to protect it with
anti-fouling paint. Sea growth on the transducer face can accumulate rapidly and
seriously reduce the performance in a matter of weeks. For easier maintenance,
coat the bottom. Use only mineral spirits-based anti-fouling or transducer paint
and apply with a brush.
If your transducer becomes fouled or inoperable because of sand or debris,
use a stiff brush or putty knife to remove it. Wet sanding with a #320 grade or
finer wet or dry paper is permissible, but will compromise high speed
performance slightly.
You can maintain satisfactory operation of your unit depending on how well
you care for the equipment. The simple maintenance tips that follow can save you
time and money, as well as prevent unnecessary, premature failures.
➔ Always keep the equipment as clean as possible.
Use a soft clean cloth for cleaning the surface filter, control panel, etc. Do
not use abrasive cleansers, chemical cleaners or solvents unless specifically
recommended by this manual. Use glass cleaners or a suitable general
purpose detergent.
➔ Periodically check system hardware.
Inspect the transducer and mounts making sure all components are free of
corrosion and are securely mounted. Examine all cables for evidence of
chafing or abrasions. Make sure connections to the vessel's DC power and
RF ground system are clean and tight.
