Note:
When you input the water temperature data from an external water
temperature gauge, you need to connect the specified signal line to the
NMEA connector on the rear panel, refer to "Connecting GPS/DGPS
Sensor or Making NMEA0183 Data Connections (option)" p.40. In
addition, be sure to check that the NMEA0183 sentences of
$xxMTW are output from the connected water temperature gauge.
(You can check this easily using the self test mode of the FF50.)

Selecting Speed Input

• You can set the source of the vessel speed using this item. The FF50
can measure the vessel speed using the vessel speed sensor integrated
into the Transducer or input NMEA0183 formatted vessel speed data
from the GPS/DGPS sensor or the external navigation aids. The vessel
speed of the selected source is displayed on the screen.
• Press the
up or down to select SPEED IN and push it in to
open the Vessel Speed Data Input Destination Setting pull-down
menu. Press the
NMEA. When INT is selected, the vessel speed measured by the
vessel speed sensor of the Transducer is displayed. When NMEA is
selected, the vessel speed input from the GPS/DGPS sensor or the
external navigation aids is displayed. When INT is selected, the vessel
speed is relative to water and TW (Through Water) is displayed to the
right of the vessel speed. On the other hand, when NMEA is selected,
the vessel speed is relative to land and OG (Over Ground) is displayed
to the right of the vessel speed.
Note:
When you input the vessel speed data from the GPS/DGPS or the
external navigation aids, you need to connect the specified signal line
to the GPS/DGPS connector or the NMEA connector on the rear
panel, refer to "Connecting GPS/DGPS Sensor or Making
NMEA0183 Data Connectios (option)" p.40. In addition, after
connecting the external navigation aids, be sure to check that the
NMEA0183 sentences of $xxRMC, $xxVTG or $xxVHW are output
from the connected navigation aids. (You can check this easily using
the self test mode of the FF50.)

Selecting Position Input

• You can set the source of the navigation information data such as
position, course, geodetic information, etc. using this item. The FF50
provides the GPS/DGPS connector which allows a direct connection
of the DGPS 200 or GPS 100, and the NMEA connector to input
the NMEA0183 formatted navigational information data from the
external navigation aids. The navigational information input from the
connector selected in this item is displayed on the screen.
