6 Programming the internal Flash Memory

How to load program code into MCU

6.1 Introduction

All Flash devices have an internal boot loader for asynchronous- as well as for synchronous-
Flash-programming:
 Asynchronous serial Flash programming via X3 or X5 (UART "A" or UART "B")
 Synchronous serial Flash programming via X17 (UART2)

6.2 Asynchronous Mode

This chapter describes the serial asynchronous programming of the internal Flash memory
using „Flash Memory Programmer 16FX‟ in automatic mode.
For serial asynchronous programming SUB-D9 connectors X3 or X5 can be used on the
starter kit. Depending on the applied MCU the UART connection can be selected (see Table
6-1). After selection of on permitted UART connection the jumper settings of the
corresponding UART must be executed (see Table 6-2 and Table 6-3)
