4.10 Brake
4.10.1 Safety information
The THERAPY WHEELCHAIR may not
let itself be pushed, when the brakes
are activated.
In order to prevent unintentional
curves when braking down the THER-
APY WHEELCHAIR on slopes, both
brake levers are to be activated si-
multaneously.
Remark:
The braking effect is dependent on:
– the condition of the tyres,
– the condition and fixing of the
brakes,
– the brake lever setting,
– the quality of the road surface.
Attention:
The brake performance decreases
!
when:
the brake pads are worn down,
the brake lever is loose,
the drum brake is defective.
Immediately have the brakes adjust-
ed by an authorised specialised work-
shop when the braking function less-
ens.

4.10.2 Adjustment of the drum
brakes
To secure the wheelchair against unin-
tentionally rolling away activate the
brake lever (fig. 28/
). Press the sur-
face of the catch (fig. 28/
) and let go
of the brake lever (fig. 29). – The catch
lock into place and locks the brake.
Remark:
– The THERAPY WHEELCHAIR may not
let itself be pushed, when the brakes
are activated.
4.10.3 Disengaging the drum
brake
To deactivate the drum brake pull the
brake lever (fig. 30/
) until the catch
(fig. 30/
) automatically jumps out of
the grid.
4.11 Swivel wheels
The swivel wheels can be easily replaced
(fig. 31).
The screw axle (fig. 31/
) must be dis-
assembled to remove the wheel.
4.11.1 Tyre equipment
Pneumatic tyres:
The appropriate tyre pressures are giv-
en in the >Technical data<. The maxi-
mum pressure is shown on the outer
surface of the tyre.
Puncture-proof tyres:
These can be distinguished by the ab-
sence of a compressed air valve.
4.12 Anti-tip castors
Attention:
To increase the tilting stability, never

drive without support wheels (fig. 32).
