Remove the orange protective part from
its storage place inside the right corner
of the machine.

Gently close the scanner cover using
the finger holds on each side.
CAUTION
Be careful not to pinch your fingers when
you close the scanner cover.
Always use the finger holds provided on
each side of the scanner cover when
opening and closing it.
Routine maintenance

Open the ink cartridge cover.

Press the ink release levers to release
the ink cartridges, and then take out the
ink cartridges. (See Basic User’' s Guide:
Replacing the ink cartridges.)

Install the orange protective part, and
then close the ink cartridge cover.
IMPORTANT
•• Make sure the plastic tab on the left side
of the orange protective part (1) locks
securely into place (2).

•• If you cannot find the orange protective
part, ship the machine without it. DO NOT
install the ink cartridges as an alternative
before shipping.
