Possible cause
The subject did
not provide
enough contrast
for the camera to
focus properly.
The focus
distance is
beyond where
the camera can
focus.
The focus
distance is closer
than the camera
can focus.
The camera is set
to Macro focus,
but the focus is
too far. Or the
camera is set to
Normal focus,
but the focus is
too close.
The scene is dark
and a flash is
recommended.
The camera is
out of range for
the selected
aperture or
shutter speed.
Solution
Use Focus Lock
taking the picture (see
page 26).
Make sure the camera is
not set to Macro
Set the camera to
focus, or if set to
focus, move further away
from the subject.
Set the camera to
focus or to Normal
and try taking the picture
again. (See Using the
focus settings on
page 27.)
Use the pop-up flash (see
Using the pop-up flash
page 29), or use a tripod.
Select a different aperture
if using the Av Exposure
Mode setting, or a
different shutter speed if
using the Tv setting.
