PRINTER SPEED

As previously mentioned, all of the factors of how the machine lays down the ink greatly affect how fast the printer is able to
print. With the applied printing specs that were outlined, the Mimaki can print around 70 sq ft and hour, or roughly 1.5 double-
sided 30" x 94" banners. The other main factor is curing time.
The Mimaki JV3-160 uses solvent inks. These are very aggressive inks that attach and bond with the media, by use of heat.
As the printed material cools to room temperature, it cures onto the media, making a print that is resistant to water and
scratching without lamination. While able to be handled within a matter of minutes after it has been printed, the recommended
curing time for any print is 24 hours.
While it may seem logical to assume that with higher heat, the faster the curing time will be, that is incorrect. If the heat in
the Mimaki is too high, the print will dry faster but will become very brittle and fragile and not last as long as it would if printed
correctly.
LEAD TIMES
With all of the above-mentioned factors, the lead time for digital printing has been set at 7-10 days. Below are some factors
that may affect the overall lead time for banner orders.
• All lead times in general are based upon current work load and season.
• The bigger the banner order, the more time that is needed.
• Printing a double-sided banner currently means that we have to allot time to print 2 copies of the banner. So, if we
have 24 double-sided banners, we have to print 48 copies.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your sales representative. We will do everything we possibly can to
ensure that your order gets to you in a timely manner.
FINISHING
Unlike most of the printing competition, Consort not only keeps their finishing
in-house, but also has more experience at it, resulting in a much more durable
hem and pole pocket.
Pole Pockets:
We double-roll our pole pockets, sew them and apply grommets (when needed).
The exception is with our Briteline Rigid PVC material. Since we cannot sew
that, we single-roll the pole pockets and use a VHB double-sided tape to
complete the hem.
Side Seams:
This is the biggest difference. Unless the banner is double-sided, there will
not be side seams. One of the reasons why we do not do this is that the vinyl
banner fabric will not fray and come apart, like our regular marine fabric. Also,
side seams on a vinyl banner that are continually rolled and unrolled (for setting
up and tearing down tradeshow booths) will show creases and/or blemishes
in the printed banner. By eliminating the side seams, we have a much cleaner
looking banner that will stay better, longer.
Double-Sided:
Due to our experience with working with Mainstreet fabric, we have applied
the same techniques to finishing the digital banners. Double-sided banners
are really two banners sewn back to back with double-rolled hems.
