lO.MAINTENANCE
OIL FILTER CHANGE
1. Drain the engine oil, and reinstall the
drain plug and drain plug cover (see
EA'GINE OIL CHANGE, p.94).
2. Tilt the outboard motor, and place a
suitable container below the oil drain
guide to catch the used oil
3. Use an oil filter socket tool or an oil
filter strap wrench to remove the oil
filter, and thoroughly drain the filter
into the used oil container.

4. Clean the oil filter mounting base, and
coat the gasket of the new oil filter
with clean engine oil.
GASKET
Use only a genuine Honda oil filter or
a filter of equivalent quality specified
for your model. Using the wrong filter,
or a non-honda filter which is not of
equivalent quality, may cause engine
damage.
5. Screw on the new filter by hand until
it contacts the engine, then use an oil
filter socket tool or an oil filter strap
wrench to tighten the filter an
additional 7/8 tom.
Oil filter tightening torque: I6 ft-lb
(22 N*m, 2.2 kg-m).
6. Return the outboard motor to the
vertical position, and fill the crankcase
with the specified amount (p. 93) of
the recommended oil.
