C229 PSB/PSE Board Removal

The primary parts of the power supply are connected to the main power line. Unplug the printer
before servicing, and wait at least 5 minutes for the filter capacitor to discharge.

The heat sink is not electrically isolated from the main power line. Never touch the heat sink while the
printer is plugged in.
Y
The heat sink gets very hot during operation. Avoid touching the heat sink for at least 5 minutes after
unplugging the printer.
1. Follow the disassembly preparation procedure (see page 3-8).
2. Remove the upper housing (see page 3-9).
3. Remove the 5 CBS (M3 × 4) screws and 3 CBB (3 × 12) screws securing the shield cover to the
printer mechanism and lower housing, then remove the shield cover (see page 3-11).
4. Disconnect the connector cable from CN3 on the C229 main board.
5. Disconnect the power cable connector from CN1 on the C229 PSB/PSE board. See Figure 3-7.
Note: To remove the connector, squeeze the latch on the top part of the connector between your
thumb and forefinger. While holding the circuit board down with your other hand, pull the connector up
and off.
6. Remove the 1 remaining CBB (3 × 12) screw on the C229 PSB/PSE board.
7. Use the Extractor to remove the rivet from the C229 PSB/PSE board.
Note: To remove the rivet, center the Extractor on top of the rivet and push down to force the
Extractor's teeth under the head of the rivet. Then remove the rivet with a pull-and-twist motion.
When re-installing the power supply board, use a CBB (3 × 12) screw in place of the rivet.
