Troubleshooting

Printhead

You can check for an open circuit in the printhead's solenoid coils by using a multimeter and the table
below. Note that the test pin numbers shown in Figure 5-2 match the individual printhead solenoids (dot
wires).
Remove the printhead by following the instructions in Chapter 3. Be sure to perform the platen gap
adjustment after replacing or re-installing the printhead.

Test Pin Number
Test Method
1, 4
Place one lead on pin C1 and the other
pin on pin 1 to test solenoid 1.
Place one lead on pin C1 and the other
lead on pin 4 to test solenoid 4.

Place one lead on pin C2 and the other
pin on pin 8 to test solenoid 8.
2, 6
Place one lead on pin C3 and the other
pin on pin 2 to test solenoid 2.
Place one lead on pin C3 and the other
lead on pin 6 to test solenoid 6.
5, 9
Place one lead on pin C4 and the other
pin on pin 5 to test solenoid 5.
Place one lead on pin C4 and the other
lead on pin 9 to test solenoid 9.
3, 7
Place one lead on pin C5 and the other
pin on pin 3 to test solenoid 3.
Place one lead on pin C5 and the other
lead on pin 7 to test solenoid 7.
