Bidirectional Adjustment

You can perform the bidirectional adjustment with the adjustment program or from the control panel. This section
describes how to make the adjustment with the adjustment program. To make the adjustment from the control
panel, see "Control Panel Operation" in Chapter 1.

When using the adjustment program, do not select any options that are not described in this manual. The
adjustment program is the same as the check program used in the factory and includes many options that
are not needed for service. If you select options other than those indicated in this manual, the printer may go
into an error state and need to be reset.

Follow steps 1 through 7 under "Factory Settings" on page 4-4 to display the main menu, shown below:

to select Bi-D Adjust and press Enter. The printer starts printing the test pattern.

The Bi-D adjustment menu appears. Three modes are listed in the menu, and each mode corresponds to a
different print speed. To perform the Bi-D adjustment, you must test the printer at all three speeds. Press

to select the desired Bi-D printing mode, and press

Press the space bar to print the four-line Bi-D pattern for the current print mode, as shown below.
