4. Remove the front rubber enclosure.
5. Gently pry one side of the bottom shell out and remove that side of the laser frame.
Repeat for the other side.

6. Remove and retain the two screws securing the scan engine to the main PCB
assembly.
7. Disconnect the laser flex cable from the scan engine.
8. To reassemble the 1800, reverse Steps 3 through 7 using a new scan engine, and
then follow the procedure "Assembling the 1800" on page 1-8.
