COOLING SYSTEM
THERMOSTAT
A !herrnostat, located near !he manifold at !he front of!he
engine, controls !he coolant temperature as !he coolant
continuously flows through !he closed cooling circuit When
!he engine is first started, !he closed !hermostat prevents
coolant from flowing (some coolant is by-passed 1hrough a
hole in !he !hermostat to prevent !he exhaust manifold from
overheating). As !he engine warms up, !he !hermostat
gradually opens. The !hermostat is accessible and can be
checked, cleaned, or replaced easily. Carry a spare !hermostat
