Valve Clearance Adjustment
NOTE: Retorque the cylinder head bolts before adjusting the engine's valves.
1. Remove the rocker cover and the gasket.
2.
Carry
out the check and adjustment of valve clearances,
with the piston of the No.1 cylinder positioned at the top
of its compression stroke and the exhaust and intake
valves completely closed.
See
#2 of the table to the right
below for the values to
be
adjusted
in
this position.
3. Rotate the crankshaft 180° to position the No.1 piston at
the top of
its
exhaust stroke. Adjust the values as
indi-
cated
in #3
of the table to the right
below.
4. Replace the rocker cover along with
a
new rocker cover
gasket.
Rocker cover torque: 2.9 - 5.1 Itrft (0.4
~
0.7 kg-m)

Spark Plugs
To service the spark plugs. clean, gap or replace the plugs as
needed.
IWARNINGI
Do not remove the spark plugs while the engine is hot.
Allow the engine to cool before removing the spark
plugs.
Spark plug gap: 0.028 - 0.031 inches
(0.7 - 0.8 mm)
Spark plug torque:
7.0 KW BeG & BCGA 10.8 -15.21b-ft
(1.5 - 2.1 kg-m)
Check each plug for damage and/or wear.
NOTE: Loc-tite
"Anti~Seizeu
applied to the threaded
portion of the spark plugs wDl retard corrosion, making
future removal of the spark plugs easier.
