WIDTH IF DSP B
The IF Width tuning system allows you to vary the width of the DSP IF filter passband, to eliminate interference. Moreover,
the bandwidth may actually be expanded from its default setting, should you wish to enhance incoming signal fidelity when
interference on the band is low.
VFO-A WIDTH Operation
Press the ( VFO-A )[ WIDTH ] button. The ( VFO-
A )[ WIDTH ] button glows red, and the center position
of the IF passband will be indicated in the SUB
DISPLAY-II window. The ( VFO-A )[ SELECT ] knob
will now function as the IF WIDTH knob.
Rotate the ( VFO-A )[ SELECT ] knob to the left or right
to reduce the interference.
Press the ( VFO-A )[ CLEAR ] button briefly to set the
bandwidth to default.
To turn the IF WIDTH operation "off", press the ( VFO-
A )[ WIDTH ] button again. The red LED of the ( VFO-
A )[ WIDTH ] button turns off, and the bandwidth will be
set to default. However, the last setting of the IF WIDTH
control will be retained until you change it again.
Referring to Figure "B", you can see the default band-
width (the [ WIDTH ] button glows red).
By rotating the [ SELECT ]( width ) knob to the left, the
bandwidth will narrow (see Figure "A"). Rotation of
the [ SELECT ]( width ) knob to the right, as depicted
in Figure "C," will widen the bandwidth.
The default bandwidth, and total bandwidth adjustment
range, will vary according to the operating mode and
the [ NAR ] button setting:

When rotating the [ SELECT ]( WIDTH ) knob counter-
clockwise, the transition between 50 Hz and 25 Hz band-
width may be accompanied by a "ping" sound, depending
on the amount of noise present. This is a normal condition,
and you should turn down the volume, when wearing head-
phones, to minimize the amplitude of this momentary sound.
