Pre-ride checks

Warning
Failure to carry out these checks before starting may
result in damage to the motorcycle and injury to rider.
Before starting, check the following points:

Fuel level in the tank
Check the fuel level in the tank. Re-fuel if necessary
(page 67).
Engine oil level
Check the oil level in the sump through the sight glass.
Top up if necessary (page 90).
Brake and clutch fluid
Check the fluid levels in the respective reservoirs (page 75).
Coolant
Check coolant level in the expansion reservoir. Top up if
necessary (page 74).
Tyre condition
Check the pressure and condition of the tyres (page 88).
Controls
Operate the brake, clutch, throttle and gear change controls
(levers, pedals and twistgrip) to check that they function
correctly.
Lights and indicators
Make sure the lights, indicators and horn work properly.
Replace any burnt-out bulbs (page 82).

Key locks
Check that the fuel filler cap (page 50) and the seat are
locked (page 51).
Sidestand
Make sure the sidestand operates smoothly and is in the
correct position (page 52).
Warning
If there are any faults or malfunctions, do not start the
motorcycle and contact your Ducati Dealer or Authorized
Service Centre.
