9 Engine oil consumption excessive
Possible fault
Oil level too high.
Excessive inclination of engine. Check / Adjust.
Incorrect lube oil SAE class or
quality for ambient tempera-
ture.
Leak in lubricating oil system.
Excessive wear of cylinder/
piston.
Insufficient intake air.
Engine overloaded.
Remedy
Lower level.
Replace.
Repair / replace.
Check compression; overhaul
engine.
Check.
Check size of propeller.
10 Fuel consumption excessive
Possible fault
Incorrect fuel quality or dirty
fuel.
Faulty injector/injector pump.
Incorrect injector timing.
Excessive wear of cylinder /
piston.
Insufficient air intake.
Fault finding table
Remedy
Check fuel. Drain and rinse
fuel tank. Replace with new
fuel.
Check, replace if necessary.
Check / adjust.
Check compression; refurbish
engine.
