7 Troubleshooting
3 Engine cranks but will not start, smoke from exhaust
Possible fault
Air in fuel system.
Faulty injector/injection pump.
Setting of stop valve incorrect.
Faulty glow plugs.
Incorrect valve clearance.
Incorrect injection timing after
overhauling of engine.
Insufficient intake air.
Wrong fuel quality or contami-
nated fuel.
Incorrect lube oil SAE class or
quality for ambient tempera-
ture.

Check and bleed.
Check, replace if required.

Check fuel. Drain and flush

Leaking fuel supply line or fuel
injection line.

Vent line of fuel supply tank
clogged.
Fuel supply line restricted.
Incorrect valve clearance.
Idle setting too low.
Exhaust restricted.
Wrong fuel quality or contami-
nated fuel.
Clogged filter of electric fuel lift
pump.
