Troubleshooting

If you have a problem with your camcorder, refer to this checklist. Consult your dealer
or a Canon Service Center if the problem persists.
• Depending on the level of repair, the hard disk may be initialized or replaced,
resulting in permanent data loss. Before having the camcorder repaired, back up
important recordings using an external device (
any data loss due to repair.
• To verify a possible problem, data on the hard disk will need to be checked.
However, only the minimum amount necessary will be checked and the data will
not be copied or saved.
Power Source
Problem
• Camcorder will not turn on.
• Camcorder switches off by itself.
• Screen switches on and off.
The charge indicator flashes rapidly.
• Battery pack will not charge.
• The CHG (charge) indicator flashes
very slowly (about once every 2
seconds).
Camcorder is on but is unresponsive.
Battery pack is exhausted. Replace or charge the battery pack.
Attach the battery pack correctly.
(one flash at 0.5-second intervals)
Charging has stopped because the compact power adapter or the battery
pack is faulty. Consult a Canon Service Center.
(two quick flashes at 1-second intervals)
Battery pack at least 50% charged. This is not a malfunction.
Charge the battery pack in temperatures between 0 °C and 40 °C.
Battery packs become hot with use and may not charge. When the battery
pack is outside the charging temperature range, the CHG (charge)
indicator will flash irregularly. The charging will start once the battery pack
temperature is below 40 °C.
The battery pack is damaged. Use a different battery pack.
The camcorder has exceeded its operational temperature (
